How to Access the BIOS on a Lenovo Laptop

Method 1: Function Key During Startup

1. Shutdown or Restart: If your laptop is on shut it down or initiate a restart.

2. Power On: Press the power button to turn it back on.

3. Repeatedly Tap the BIOS Key: Immediately start tapping one of the designated BIOS key.

The BIOS keys for Lenovo laptops are:

  • F1
  • F2
  • Fn + F2

4. BIOS Entry: If successful you’ll see the BIOS setup utility screen. Don’t click the keys all at once, try each of them at one time until one of them takes you to the BIOS.

Method 2: Windows Settings (Windows 10/11)

Settings: Access the Settings (Windows key + I or through the Start Menu).

Update And Security (Windows 10): Click on Update and Security and then select Recovery from the sidebar.

Restart Now: Under Advanced startup click Restart now.

Troubleshoot –> Advanced Options –> UEFI Firmware Settings: Follow the on screen prompts. Your system will reboot, taking you directly into the BIOS.

Important Things

Fast Booting: Modern Lenovo laptops boot up very quickly. Be prepared to press the BIOS key right after powering on the machine.

Lenovo Vantage Tool: Some Lenovo laptops offer a dedicated BIOS access option inside the Lenovo Vantage software (pre installed or downloadable).

Novo Button (Only Certain Models): Some models have a small dedicated button called the Novo Button usually located on the side or near the power button. Pressing this when the machine is off boots it into a menu with a BIOS access option.
