Methods to Update Nvidia Drivers

GeForce Experience: The Easy Path

Installation: If you don’t have it already get GeForce Experience from Nvidia’s website (

Open the App: Launch GeForce Experience.

Driver Tab: Go to to the Drivers tab.

Update Ready: If an update is available there will be a Download button. Click it.

Choose Installation Type: Express Installation is the most convenient for most users. Custom Installation lets you choose specific components.

Nvidia Website: Manual Download

Find Your Card: Go to Nvidia’s driver download page (

Specify Details: Select your graphics card type, product series, operating system and language.

Search: Click the Search button.

Download: Download the latest driver (usually at the top of the results).

Run the Installer: Follow the installer’s prompts to update your drivers.

Before You Update

Create a Restore Point: (especially useful if you’re concerned about issues). Windows has a built-in tool for this. Search for Create a restore point for instructions.

Windows Update (Sometimes Works)

Convenience with Caveats: Windows sometimes packages graphics driver updates inside its own system updates especially for older cards.

Checking Updates: Go to your Windows Update settings and check for available updates. You might get lucky if there’s a recent Nvidia driver included.

Lack of Control: This method offers the least control over the specific driver version you get.

Device Manager (For Advanced Users)

Manual Navigation: Access the Device Manager (search for it in the Start Menu).

Locate Display Adapters: Expand the Display Adapters section and find your Nvidia graphics card.

Right Click and Update: Right click on the card and select Update driver.

Choose Search Automatically: For this method you’re relying on Windows to find and install the appropriate update from online sources (less reliable than Nvidia’s own tools).
